Dr. Christine M. Silverstein is the director of The Summit Center for Ideal Performance, conveniently located in Northern New Jersey, about 20 miles west of New York City. She is a certified hypnocounselor, a certified NLP master, a Reiki master,and a member of the Manhattan Society of Clinical Hypnosis. Certified to work with children, adolescents, and adults, she has assisted countless clients to achieve their optimum performances in academics, business, sports, performing arts, and health.
Dr. Silverstein holds a doctorate in education (EdD) from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a master's degree in Public Administration from Long Island University. She is a Registered Nurse with a BSN (summa cum laude) from The City College of New York, a member of Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education, and Pi Alpha Alpha Honor Society for Public Affairs and Administration.
In the fall of 2007, Dr. Silverstein initiated a new program, Nativity, for fertility and IVF enhancement. She offers a unique program, Winning Ways For Wrestlers™ that meets the special needs of amateur wrestlers at all levels. She is certified in sports and performance hypnotism. She has worked with youth, high school, and college wrestlers to assist them in reaching their ideal performances. Dr. Silverstein wrote the Getting The Edge column for the National High School Coaches Association (NHSCA) journal. She has given numerous seminars at wrestling clubs on mental conditioning for wrestlers. Seminars for coaches on this topic were presented at the 1997 NHSCA Annual Coaches Clinic and at the NHSCA coaches clinic during the 1998 National High School Wrestling Championship Tournament in Pittsburgh.
Sought after because she is an accomplished and dynamic public speaker, Dr. Silverstein gives lectures and participates in panel discussions on scholarly topics ranging from nursing history and practice to the pressing issues of sports in America and performance facilitation.
Dr. Silverstein offers a new Train to Regain™ program for stroke recovery that utilizes the power of the mind to help clients regain physical function. She presented a seminar on this exciting program at the NGH Convention in August, 2006.
As a nurse historian, Dr. Silverstein investigates how nursing history influences current healthcare practices and its implication for the future of nursing. She recently published a paper in Perspectives in Psychiatric Care that explores the history of psychiatric nursing and its impact on the nursing profession and society and how its legacy can support and facilitate change. Currently, she is writing a book on the history of psychiatric nursing and its impact on professional practice.
